A consultation is required before all Microloc Establishments, Micro Interlock Establishments, and new Transfer Client services. Consultations are $95 and nonrefundable, and the fee is credited toward an establishment booked within 7 days. Your consultation includes an assessment of your hair, desired loc size, parting preferences, density, length, and maintenance expectations, along with an estimated service time and final quote. A consultation does not guarantee that By Her Measure will be able to perform or accept the requested service.

A 30% nonrefundable deposit is required to reserve all establishment appointments and is applied toward your total service cost. The remaining balance is due on the first day of your establishment, before the service begins, including establishments scheduled across multiple days. At least 7 days' notice is required to reschedule and transfer your deposit to a new date. Deposits may be transferred one time; additional rescheduling will require a new deposit.

For retightenings, transfer appointments, restoration services, and other standard appointments, at least 48 hours' notice is required to cancel or reschedule. Changes with less than 48 hours' notice may result in a charge of 50% of the scheduled service price, and no-shows may be charged 100%. Any outstanding balance must be paid before another appointment can be booked.

A 15-minute grace period is provided. After 15 minutes, your service may need to be adjusted or rescheduled depending on the remaining appointment time and the day's schedule, and arrivals of 30 minutes or more may be considered a late cancellation. Late arrival does not guarantee that your appointment can be extended beyond its originally scheduled time.

Establishments: arrive with hair that is freshly shampooed, thoroughly detangled, blow-dried or stretched, and free from heavy oils, grease, gels, edge control, butters, and excessive product buildup. Retightenings: arrive with clean hair, which does not need to be blow-dried or dry. Transfer and restoration services: arrive with clean hair unless different instructions are given at your assessment. Shampoo services are not included at this time, and if your hair isn't appropriately prepared for an establishment and the needed prep can't be accommodated within your appointment, your service may need to be rescheduled.

Maintenance is recommended every 4–6 weeks. The 7th week is a grace period. Appointments at 8 weeks or later incur a $50 Extended Maintenance Fee. Standard retightenings are $200 for up to 4.5 hours; additional time needed for extended new growth, marrying, tangling, slippage, or similar conditions is billed at $45/hour. You will never be charged additional time solely because of your service provider's working speed.

New transfer clients require a $50 assessment before their first transfer retightening so the locs, grid, history, integrity, and corrective needs can be evaluated. The initial Transfer Client Retightening begins at $200 for up to 4 hours. An assessment does not guarantee acceptance as an ongoing maintenance client; if significant restoration or corrective work is recommended, it will always be discussed with you before additional billable work is performed. Once accepted as an ongoing client, standard retightening appointments are booked at the current maintenance rate.

Restoration is billed at $100 per hour with a two-hour minimum ($200). The scope and estimated time depend on the condition of the locs and required corrective work, and because corrective work can reveal additional needs as it progresses, estimated times are not guaranteed. If substantially more time or work is required than anticipated, it will be discussed with you before that additional work is performed.

Because services are time-based and customized, completed services are nonrefundable. If you have a concern about the workmanship of your service, contact By Her Measure within 7 days so it can be assessed; a reasonable correction may be offered when appropriate. A change of mind after an approved service — about loc size, appearance, or other previously agreed-upon elements — is not considered a workmanship concern.

Appointments are meant to provide a focused environment for both client and service provider, so whenever possible, please attend alone. One guest may accompany you when necessary. Children who are not receiving a service should only attend when another responsible adult is present to supervise them.

Before photographing or recording your hair for portfolio, educational, website, or social media purposes, permission will always be requested. You may choose full photo/video permission, hair-only content with your identity concealed, or no photography or recording at all. Choosing not to be photographed will never affect your service or experience with By Her Measure.

Every head of hair is different, and hair texture, density, growth patterns, lifestyle, home care, and maintenance consistency all influence how locs develop over time. By Her Measure cannot guarantee an exact loc count, maturation timeline, final appearance, or results identical to another person's hair or an inspiration photo. Maintenance and home care recommendations are intended to help preserve the integrity of your locs between appointments.

All balances are due according to the payment schedule associated with your service. Outstanding balances must be resolved before future appointments can be booked, and post-service payment plans are not available. Gratuity is always appreciated, but never required.
